Invasion - Flânerie
A story about ants and cyclamens.
Press release
In May, Artbeat Gallery presents Natassa Poulantza's paintings from two series: Invasion-Flânerie and Portraits. This thematic unit of her work is characterized by an underlying irony located in the dipole 'love and violence'. Her art tells it like it is, yet with an erotic hint. She never misses a chance to prove that the game of love and violence becomes more amusing when imbued with a sense of irony. On hearing the word 'invasion', one can expect the unknown. Being captive in a war where there can be no winners or losers is a familiar story.
Submission of a prisoner-of-war, and of a prisoner-of-love.
Alternating roles.
One cannot tell who is a winner and who a defeated prisoner.
Balance is characterized by the expression 'walking on the edge'.
The feeling of loneliness and silence is deafening.
Is love freedom? Is captivity restrictive?
What feelings are evoked by the word 'invasion'?
